About Allcord Outdoor
Allcord started up in Newcastle back in 1980 by former work colleagues Alan Birkmyre and Colin Westland, who spotted a gap in the market for the distribution of ropes and mountaineering equipment. From those first premises in Ilford Road, Allcord has grown into a leading distributor in the UK and Ireland offering a comprehensive range of climbing and outdoor equipment suitable for every kind of activity or expedition. Colin still works with the company today.
Allcord brands include Tendon and Cousin ropes, CAMP climbing equipment, Dolomite footwear, Fizan trekking poles, Soto stoves and TSL snowshoes, as well as clothing by Scandinavian snow-sports brands Icepeak and Luhta, and bouldering and climbing specific clothing by Spanish company Trangoworld.
As well as distributing recreational outdoor equipment, Allcord also supplies professional safety equipment to government departments, local authorities, rope access companies, activity centres, arborists, the military and other professional users.
Allcord are and have always been committed to a culture of continual improvement where quality and customer service standards are concerned, and were one of the first British companies in the outdoor industry to achieve the ISO 9001 accreditation for quality management.
In 2012, Allcord began a new chapter, relocating from Newcastle to a brand new base with larger premises and warehousing on the edge of Livingston, near Edinburgh, following investment by Coralinn Private Equity.
